BETA MAR 2027
// FINISHED THE SEASON?

Games like Golden Lap & Motorsport Manager.

If you've played through Golden Lap, Motorsport Manager or F1 Manager and want another racing team to run, there aren't many options. This page compares those three with Pit Wall, a text-based F1 manager for iPhone and iPad that's still in development.

TestFlight beta from March 2027, iPhone & iPad. One email when it opens, and nothing else.
// FOUR TEAMS, ONE GRID

How they compare.

All four put you in charge of a team rather than behind the wheel. They differ in how you watch the race, which devices they run on and how you pay.

Start from the game you liked.

If you liked Golden Lap

Golden Lap cuts management down to the calls that decide a race, and that's the part Pit Wall builds on. The difference is how much race you get to read. Pit Wall replaces the track view with a commentary feed and live timing, then adds more to manage on race day: tyre wear in percent, stint plans on a graph, rain that arrives five minutes into your plan. Golden Lap is finished and already on your phone. Pit Wall is still in development.

If you liked Motorsport Manager

Motorsport Manager has the bigger management layer, and on PC you watch the race in 3D. If what kept you playing was calling pit stops and gambling on the weather, Pit Wall is mostly that part, with more to read. You still run a team across a season (four departments, a design chief, drivers to train, a sponsor to keep happy), but the race itself is where most of your decisions happen. Read the full Pit Wall vs Motorsport Manager comparison.

If you liked F1 Manager

F1 Manager 2024 is the last in the series, and it needs a PC or console. It has the real teams and drivers, which Pit Wall doesn't: Pit Wall is an unofficial fan game. What it offers instead is a full F1-style race weekend on iPhone and iPad, from real-time qualifying to strategy in the rain, laid out to be read on a small screen. More on Pit Wall as an F1 manager for iPhone.

// FROM THE PIT WALL

What a race looks like in Pit Wall.

There's no track view. You follow the order on the timing screen, watch the forecast against the track and decide when to box. Why the race is told in text.

Questions.

> What are the best games like Golden Lap?
Motorsport Manager is the closest in scope: a full team to run, with the race shown on an animated track. F1 Manager 2024 adds the official F1 grid but asks for a PC or console. Pit Wall keeps Golden Lap's focus on race-day decisions and shows the race as live timing, radio and commentary, on iPhone and iPad.
> Is there a Motorsport Manager alternative for iPhone?
Golden Lap has been on iOS since July 2026 and is the most polished option available today. Pit Wall is built for iPhone and iPad from the start and goes deeper on in-race strategy: tyre curves, weather windows, stint plans. Its TestFlight beta opens in March 2027.
> Is there a new F1 Manager game coming?
Frontier Developments cancelled F1 Manager 2025 and ended its Formula 1 licence early, so F1 Manager 2024 is the last game in the series. Playsport Games has announced a new Motorsport Manager for 2027.
> How much does Pit Wall cost?
It's free to download. One small one-time purchase unlocks the full game. There's no subscription and nothing to buy that makes your team faster.
